Watersidearchers - Beginners

Archery is a true sport for all and all are welcome to apply to join the next available structured beginner’s course which run at various times through out the year as demand requires.
The Beginner Archery series of classes concentrates on range rules, safety rules and fundamentals of archery, and is taught using recurve equipment.
The beginner session is appropriate for those who have never shot a bow, or those with some previous experience that are seeking a refresher session.
NEXT COURSE STARTS APRIL 19th 2008
All safety gear and equipment will be provided. (Bow, arrows, finger tab, arm guard, quiver)
Classes are taught by a certified GNAS archery coach, and adhere to the safety guidelines of the Grand National Archery Society. The GNAS is affiliated with the Federation of International Target Archery (FITA) which is the international governing body for Olympic style archery competitions.
The Archery class will include the following:
The first class in the Beginners Course series includes correctly sizing equipment to the archer (bow, arrows, safety gear etc.) and determining eye dominance (eye dominance controls aiming and determines type of bow used). We recommend that you do not purchase equipment until the student has been assessed for eye dominance, and has been shooting for a while. Students will be able to gain strength, and will need longer arrows as they practice and stretch out. We can advise on equipment at that time. Once the fundamentals have been learned, the student may also participate in open practice sessions (space permitting) and further training programs.
The use of Club equipment is included in the price of the course. New members may then continue to use the club equipment for a further six weeks, after that we would ask that you purchase your own equipment.
Class is limited to 10 students (more if a special group, etc, with advance notice) Classes open to all ages (9 and above) Parents & children may shoot together.
Class lasts 1-2 hours, please arrive 15 minutes early to gear up, and set up. Allow enough time for students to help at the end of class with equipment clean up. Parents or guardians are to remain with their children (under sixteen years of age) until the lesson ends. If the parent or guardian leaves, then the child must leave also.
