INDOOR SHOOTING SCHEDULE 2009/2010
With the 2009/2010 indoor seasion approaching fast here's the indoor shooting timetable. All archers are reminded that indoor non-marking shoes have to be warn at both venues. Because of the fragile nature of the floor at Hounsdown, wednesday evenings are formal target days intended for shooting rounds (i.e No bow tuning and experimentation!).
Wednesday's 7.15pm till 9.15pm Hounsdown school - Indoor Target Day, Formal evening of shooting a round. Details of each round is shown on the pdf below.
Friday's 7:30pm till 9.30pm Gang Warrily - Indoor Practice, Practice or join in and shoot a round, its your choice! Details of each round to be shot will be posted soon.
Alternate Sunday mornings 10am till 12.30pm Gang Warrily - Indoor Practice, Sunday's being our club day we will stop at approx 11.00am for 5mins and make any club announcements.
The first Wednesday will be 7th October 2009, the first friday will be 9th October 2009 these will then continue until the 17th and 19th March 2010. The only exceptions to this are the 25th December 2009 and 1st January 2010 both are fridays, there won't be shooting on these dates. The 18th October 2009 will be the first Sunday alternating between indoors at Gang warrily and Outdoors at the field until 21st March 2010 however there are some exceptions to start with. Exact dates etc are shown on the calendar pages.
MONDAY COACHING DAYS
The club is working hard to provide coaching for all its members at all levels, to help achieve this monday evenings are now the clubs offical coaching evenings. Look out for the red t-shirts that all of the coaches will be wearing, if you think you might need some assistance go up to them and ask.
The Outdoor Club championships are on Sunday 20th September 2009 at the exbury field.
The rounds on sunday will be....
ALL COMPOUNDS both Seniors and Juniors / Recurves, Longbows and Barebows - Seniors and Juniors 16 and Over
Western (4 dozen @ 60 yards / 4 dozen @ 50 yards)
NO COMPOUNDS!!! / Recurves, Longbows and Barebows - Juniors U16 and Novices
Short Junior Western (4 dozen @ 30 yards / 4 dozen @ 20 yards)
The rounds have been intentionally kept to shorter distances so that more club members can participate and enjoy shooting in this club event. We will be pausing breifly at 11:00am for a comfort break and the round will be split by a lunch break after the first distance.
NEW CLUB SHOOTING COLOURS
The club's shooting colours are now a white polo or t-shirt top with club logo and black trousers, also the option of a black sweatshirt/Jumper and black Jacket/Fleece or bodywarmer all with our logo. These have been registered with GNAS, from october all members will be able to shoot in competitions in these colours. Any member also can wear the traditional colours of white and Green (As long as its the right shade of green).
CORPORATE DAY SUCCESS
The club held a corporate have-a-go day recently, the event was a outstanding success with the group enjoying there first experiances of archery. Many thanks to all those who helped on the day with the group and those who supplied the oustanding sandwiches and cakes.
Special thanks goes to Wendy and John who organised and ran the whole event from start to finish. Well done to the whole group that attended, hope you all enjoyed the afternoon's shooting.

New club target Days thoughout the summer, details below. A Field captain will be appointed on each day and displayed on club wipeboard.
Each target day we will aim to start shooting at 10:30am, so everyone needs to be at the field at or before 10.00am to allow setting up etc.
*Please note if people are going to arrive later and finish before the end of the target day, please be prepared to set up and pack away your own boss and stand etc.

2009 - HAPPY NEW YEAR, NEW CLUB TARGET DAYS
Indoor Season Club target days for 2009. New club target days for both indoors and outdoors over the next three months. If there is a round you would like to shoot let me know and i'll put it on the target day list. Spent all year practising hitting the target ? Here's your chance to tune your skills for hitting the grass. Various Distances, New Years Day 10am start.
CLUB TARGET DAY 21st DECEMBER 2008
The very last club target day of 2008 went well, the weather was kind for a change. Many archers swaped there usual green hats for red ones, and we have pictures... Three new club records were shot so congratulations to Adrian Dawes, Diane Amey and Adam Harrison.
Four rounds to choose from all shot on a 122cm Face with GNAS 5 zone scoring Well done to all those who shot in the club championships last sunday, more members shot this year than last year and luckily the weather was very good.
The results for the day are posted in the results section under club championships. Owing to the club not having any prior records set for the St Nicholas round, the clubs first St Nicholas target day set 5 yes five new club records. Well done to all those who shot and Congratulations.

Following the last target day shooting an American round three individuals set new club records. Aled Penlington set a new Junior Boys under 18 record, Jake Burn set a new Junior Boys Compound under 16 and 18's record and Melissa Dawes set a new Junior Girls Compound under 18/16 and 13.

Owing to the sucess of the first two club target days, The commitee has decided to run target days every other sunday thoughout the summer shooting schedule. Dates are also listed on the shooting schedule page on this web site and are marked on the calendar page.

A Long Western round is 4 dozen arrows at 80yards and 4 dozen arrows at 60yards, A Western round is 4 dozen arrows at 60yards and 4 dozen arrows at 50 yards. 2007/08 INDOOR SEASON COMES TO AN END
Next Week is the last week of the indoor season, Applemore finishes on Thursday 27/03/08. So time to dust off the rain coats and umbrellas as we all prepare for the great british summer.
APPLEMORE CLOSED FOR HALF TERM 18/02/08
Applemore is closed next week for half term. So no practice at applemore for one week commencing 18th Febuary.
PLEASE RETURN ANY CLUB EQUIPMENT
With a new beginners course being planned, the demand for club equipment is increasing. The club currently supports begineers with equipment during the inital six week course and then for a further six weeks following the end of the course. We would like to gather in the outstanding club equipment lent to individuals so that we can continue to offer this service.

2007 BA WINTER POSTAL LEAGUE - FROSTBITE AND PORTSMOUTH ROUNDS
All members, Have a look under Club info and see when we are shooting league rounds we have struggled to fill the teams this month.
November 25th - 2007 BA WINTER POSTAL LEAGUE - FIRST FROSTBITE ROUND SHOT.
This Sunday saw the first frostbite round of the British Archer Postal league being shot outdoors at Exbury.
Archers shoot a frostbite round, thats three dozen arrows at 30 meters with a 80cm target.
The highest five scoring recurve archers are entered as the 'A' Team, and the next five as the 'B' Team.
The highest two compound archers are entered as the compound Team. This month sees the 'A' Team shoot against Sliverspoon, 'B' Team against Oxshott Village Bowmen and the compound team against Andover Archers. Sunday saw the first round of the British Archer Postal league being shot at Gang Warily.
Archers shoot a portsmouth round, thats five dozen arrows at 20 yards with a 60cm target.
The highest five scoring recurve archers are entered as the 'A' Team, and the next five as the 'B' Team.

October 8th - 2007 *** URGENT - APPLEMORE NOW OPEN FOR SHOOTING PRACTICE ***
Applemore building works have now been finished. Indoor shooting can now resume as normal, Monday/Wednesday and Thursday evenings between 6.45pm-9.15pm. Shooting should start at 7.00pm after the equipment has been setup and finish at 9.00pm ready for the equipment to be packed up.

The outdoor field at Exbury is closed for practice this coming weekend.
Due to hosting the HAA County Clout Shoot.
September 29th 2007 - GANG WARILY FRIENDLY SHOOT WATERSIDE vs SOUTHAMPTON
Well Done and thanks to all the archers that took part and made saturday evening so enjoyable.
Portsmouth round with the top eight archers scores from each team forming the teams score.
Final Scores were Waterside 4020 Southampton 4169, Well done to Southampton.
